Fast Eddy's Restaurant & Pizza TokAKVirtually every rider coming into Alaska, or leaving via the Alaska Hwy, will stop here going and/or coming. Very good food, good service, decent prices (for Alaska), and right on the Alcan. If you like seafood, order the deep fried halibut, it's excellent. They have the best deep fried mushrooms I've ever tasted. Their sandwiches are huge, and delicious.555444907-883-4411Mile 1313.3 Alaska Hwy99780Alcan Rider

Benedikt's OneontaALBenedikt's is located on County Hwy 27 on the mountain between Springville and Oneonta. Two german sisters own the restaurant. It is buffet style fresh home cooked food. All the vegetables are fresh and not from a can. They also have a great bakery. It is all you can eat and you serve yourself. When I mean serve yourself, you get everything yourself. Cash or check only. No debit or credit cards. About $10-12 per person. The outside appearance is not that great. This is just a hole in the wall type restaurant with great atmosphere.4Buffet/Cafeteria3533205-274-02302benedikt.com4125 Highway 2735121
Big Bob Gibson's Original DecaturALThis is the best Bar-B-Q in Northern Alabama!! Their people welcome you in with warm freindly smiles :-) I have eaten there alot over the last 20 years. I have found no B-Q place that can stand up to them. It's really good & if you give them a try you will prefer them to any other. They have chicken, turkey, beef, pork & there brunswick stew is out of this world!! So if are ever in the huntsville - decatur area & want some really good B-Q then this place is the one for you & your family :-)
[Another reviewer adds:] Order anything BBQ... Great sauces to go with your order... This place has won many BBQ awards...

Bogue's BirminghamALBogue's is a meat and three buffet style place. They also offer breakfast. The Bogue's in the listing is the original Bogue's. There is also two more locations in the Birmingham area. One on Oxmoor Road in Homewood and one on Hwy 280 in North Shelby county in the Inverness area. Great food for very little money at all three locations5Buffet/Cafeteria35454205-254-97803028 Clairmont Ave S35205
Bruce's Restaurant GuntersvilleALBruce's is a meat and three buffet style restaurant. They are only open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Bruce's is located right on US 431. Pete's Famous BirminghamALA hole-in-the-wall downtown hot dog shop that can feel as snug as an MRI machine, Pete's Famous has been dishing out cheap eats since 1920. We first learned about it thanks to a Roadfooder who goes by the handle "The Don." The Don described Pete's hot dogs as "the absolute best in the land, perfectly grilled every time, always on a fresh steamed bun." He said that Pete's hot dogs are "so good I have to hit myself in the head with a brick to stop eating them." We can relate. Pete's hot dogs are addictive. They are modest-sized crisp-grilled weenies, loaded into soft steamed buns, and almost always served "all the way" with onions, sauerkraut, and tangy-sweet sauce, as well as a shot of mustard. Pete's "special" supplements the mix with dark, beefy chili. Cheese adds a whole other level of taste to the combo and is highly recommended. Other than hot dogs and hamburgers, there is nothing on Pete's menu, not even French fries. If you need something on the side, bags of chips are available; and the beverages of choice are Coca-Cola and a curiously tangy grape-flavored bubbly bug juice known as Grapico. For dessert, choose from a selection of candy bars that includes Goo Goo Clusters. Expect to dine standing up. No credit cards accepted.3Dive24353205-252-29051925 Second Ave. North35203

Mickeys BBQ Hot SpringsARThis little "Hole-in-the-Wall" place is definitely worth stopping in. Right off of scenic Hwy 7, it holds some of the best BBQ we have ever eaten! The BBQ sausage is crisp on the outside, moist on the inside. Just perfect. The sandwiches are overflowing and big portions will more than fill your tummy for the trip to the Ozarks ahead. The people there are super friendly and the locals won't hesitate to chat with you while you're there. Roadhouse Restaurant Eureka SpringsARIt's a Biker themed restaurant. Exhaust pipes hang and the bar and all the menu items have clever bike style names like "The Shovel Head", The Road King" and "The Biker Betty". Of course there's plenty of Motorcycle Only parking right out front. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and all of it was so good, we went back the next day to have more. Cafe Poca Cosa TucsonAZCafe Poca Cosa is great for an upscale Mexican dinner in Tucson. The chicken mole is very good and the carne asada is wonderful as well. Definitely consider ordering the Plato Poca Cosa for an assortment of yummy delights. Plan on spending about $25 a person for just the main entrée and you'll definitely need to make reservations. However, for my money, Little Poca Cosa is even better (151 N Stone Ave). All the really great flavors for a lot less dinero in a more intimate atmosphere. El Charro Cafe TucsonAZEl Charro is one of Tucson's oldest Mexican restaurants and is definitely an institution. They have several locations but the original, downtown, is the one to go to. Carne Seca is the specialty and they have the drying cages on the roof. This is authentic and yummy. For desert, get the tres leches cake - yum! Most plates run less than $10 for dinner. El Torero TucsonAZAnother Tucson Mexican food gem, El Torero is easy to miss tucked just off of south 4th Ave on 26th St. It definitely looks like a dive but it's worth wandering in. KOFA Cafe SalomeAZJust North of Highway 60 at Vicksburg RD, a cutoff to between I 10 and Highway 72. South eastern Arizona. When the big bodies inside a 100 mile circle get together to discuss where and when to eat, this restaurant always comes up. Great food, plenty of it, at a very good price. Not to mention the cleanest rest rooms in all of Arizona. Features a real old fashioned soda fountain and made on the premises pie. Darn near spectacular pie, and the special is safe and good. Is the only restaurant in Arizona where I will eat the Meatloaf special. It is exactly 100mi from my place to the KOFA. Perfect to sharpen my early morning apetite. Oh, the place is named for a famous area land mark. The King OF Arizona Mine, one of the richest gold mines in territorial Arizona. About 50 miles straight south. Edit: I forgot one important thing. When you buy OJ, they squeeze it right in front of you. Is no doubt fresh! And order the BIG ham breakfast only if you are a big eater! BigTom442370 Vicksburg Rd85348ST-Owners.com

Evergreen Lodge Tavern GrovelandCALocated a half mile from the entrance of Yosemite National Park off 120 (directions at link). If you haven't ridden CA120, it's a top ten riding roads in the nation. The lodge is also surrounded by many offroad trails, if that is your thing. The food is Americana and well cooked. The Tavern is host to many events. The Hetch-Hetchy Dam is a very short hop from the Tavern. The Black&Blue Cheeseburger is my personal favorite. The prices are very reasonable. Note: If you are east of the park, the Tioga Pass is usually closed Nov-May and you'll have to go around. The Tioga Pass closure does not effect those coming from the west.4Bar & Grill/Tavern54454(800) 935-6343evergreenlodge.com/tavern.html33160 Evergreen Road95321

Nepenthe Big SurCAA great place to take a break along the magnificent Pacific Coast Highway. There will be quite a few tourists there, but don't let that put you off - you're in the wrong part of the world if you want to dodge tourists. When the weather is nice, it is a real treat to eat outside, especially if you can get a seat on the rail on the south and west side of the patio area. Spectacular views. The bartenders are real pros, in case your passenger wishes to imbibe - I hear the Mai Tai's and Bloody Mary's are memorable. Pricey, but the food is good and the location is amazing. North Coast Brewing Co Fort BraggCAGood bike access;good food;great local brew.
[another reviewer adds:] They brew several styles of Ales and Porters and serve them at the bar up front. All are good. The after-work regulars are mostly blue collar. Really, really blue collar which might put off some who expect a more touristy crowd but fear not as everyone is very friendly, especially the staff. They do a lot of seafood but I can only bear fish'n'chips and the Brewery's were very good. But the best part about the place is the ride there.
[reviewer David Morrow adds: I would not describe the North Coast Brewing crowd in Fort Bragg as "really, really blue collar". It has a very nice pub and an even nicer restaurant.]

[editor: I'd add that the nearby stretch of Hwy 1 between Leggett and the coast is the jewel in the crown of the PCH]

The roads REAL close aren't great, but it is just off the Pacifc Coast Highway, and half an hour north or south will get you into some stellar riding. If you're riding in Monterey and looking for a place to eat, head a few minutes north to Moss Landing instead and try Phil's. Rickshaw Corner San DiegoCAI ate there last about 3 weeks ago. First thing I'd like to say is this is a family owned family run business. It has all the benefits and pitfalls associated with a business of this nature. I first started eating there in 1994 when I was active duty in the Navy and living in nearby Murphy Canyon. I was impressed with the food then. I've since moved 2000 miles away and back again returning in 2004. Was I surprised to see this little gem still in business. They have the best Mongolian Beef you will find in the San Diego County, I don't care at what cost. No one makes it like the chef in the back of this restaurant! Their vegetables are as fresh as they get, always cooked to perfection. I introduced a friend to this place and he and I eat there now about once a week. He totally fell in love with their Shrimp Tempura, he also loves their Rickshaw Roll, it's a combination of Tempura Shrimp, Avocado, Crab, Cream Cheese and Cucumber. I've found their Garlic Chicken to be especially tasty as well as their Lemon and Orange Chicken. As you can tell I'm a pretty big fan of a lot of their menu. The only thing that keeps this place from getting 5 stars is the simple fact that it doesn't provide atmosphere, it's small, the service is slow sometimes as the staff is pretty limited but once they get to know you, well the servers just light up when you walk in. Another issue is that the bathroom is out and around back of the place. Maybe not everyone's kind of place, but it sure is my kind of place. After all, it's all about the food! The photo may look bland but the chicken pie is so much tastier than the frozen ones you've had in the past. The cole slaw is mighty fine, too. Walker Burger WalkerCAIn the middle of this desolate stretch of California high desert highway, you will find this oasis of red meat and grassy picnic wonderfulness. One of THE best burger joints you will ever find in the entire world. Cooked to order so there is a bit of a wait. While waiting you can relax in the covered patio area or in the grassy expanse. If you're real good you can become a member of the "Clean Plate Club" however, become too picky and you will be dubbed a princess and have to wear the tierra! Also remember, no matter how tempting, dudes don't eat lollipops!! The King's Chef actually has two locations in downtown COS however, the Castillo location is the original "King's Chef is a 13 seat custom Valentine Diner built in 1956. King's Chef is small and cozy with a vibrant energy. If the diner inside is full, King's Chef also has additional seating (weather permitting) on one of our two great patios for your dining enjoyment." As for riding what can I say other than Colorado Springs is the gateway to the Rockies. Hwy 24 west takes you to some great twisties north and south on Hwy 67. Hwy 115 southwest out of town takes you to US Hwy 50 and points west. Sagebrush BBQ and Grill Grand LakeCOTook some out of town friends for a tour of Peak to Peak and RMNP last weekend, at Sherob's recommendation we stopped at the Sagebrush BBQ and Grill in Grand Lake. It was DELICIOUS! Among our group we had the pulled pork platter, the pulled pork sandwich, a chicken sandwich, brisket platter, and the ribeye sandwich. There wasn't a single complaint, everything melted in your mouth (we passed everything around). Pros: * Food melted in your mouth * Portions were huge (you can split the platters between two people) * Atmosphere was fun! Throw your peanut shells on the floor * Right on the main street in Grand Lake * Easy to get to * Plenty of free parking * Did not have to wait for a table on Sunday at 5pm * Drinks are big, free refills (this is nice if you want to rehydrate or like soda/ice tea) Cons: * Service was miserable, obviously just some local kids trying to make a few bucks. I got up 3 times during the meal to get our waitress. * It's a bit pricey imo, but then again I'm a cheapskate. We will split platters next time we go to cut down on cost. Overall, I recommend you check it out!4(970) 627-14041101 Grand Avenue80447ST-Owners.com

Turley's BoulderCOTurley's is a great place to eat - doubly so if you're "not from around here" and are tired of eating fast (buck) food commonly found just off the interstate. They use fresh ingredients, and organic ingredients wherever they can get them, without being overly 'hippy' about it. Their website says: "The concept 'better for you naturally' providing healthier style eating, serving foods you’re familiar with. We do this by offering a widely varied selection from vegan to meat and potatoes, breakfast all day, a Mexican menu and an ever expanding gluten-free selection. Turley’s takes pride in presenting moderately priced food in an inviting atmosphere, with a focus on customer service and attention to detail." That's the thing that makes Turley's really stand out - they have great food - and if they didn't tell you (on the menu) that everything in the restaurant is 'all natural', you'd never know how good-FOR-you you're eating.515535303.442.2800www.turleysboulder.com2805 Pearl St80301
Two Candles NorwoodCOGreat breakfast in a quaint shop yesterday, Norwood, Colorado (on CO-145 between Naturita and Placerville.) Just a convenient stop on our way to Cortez. Turned into a pleasant surprise with the mushroom and spinach Eggs Benedict. Cook Sara was delighted with the compliments. Inside is full of eclectic furniture, no two pieces matched; walls full of original art by the husband of the owner (also pictured, didn't get her name.) Sara is to the right, big smiles and jolly. Building looks like an old industrial complex but the inside is all 60s/70s hippy decor. Delightful place.4ST-Owners.com

Wondervu Cafe GoldenCOThis is a fun little place I ride past all the time, Karla and I finally decided to stop there last night for dinner and a beverage. It's right on a loop I do from my house, so it's a sweet little place to stop! Pros:
Atmosphere was great, this place * has been in continuous service for 35 years! * Definitely a local hangout, we listened in to some interesting conversations * Food was very tasty, more New Mexican than Mexican, reminded me of Albuquerque * Awesome menu, lots of authentic dishes. They use sopapillas in almost all their desserts. yum. * They make their own salsa, which is AWESOME * Portions are really big, we could've split our order and will in the future to save $ * The margs were tasty. If you have more than one person order the 1/2 liter. It's twice the cost of one marg and will result in just over 4 glasses full. * Nice beer selection, XX Amber on tap which is a winner for me * Service was fantastic and quick * Outdoor patio is really nice * Our server told us everything was made from scratch, and I believe her! * Easy to find (right on 72) and there is enough parking * View of the sunset was AWESOME Cons: * A bit pricey (I'm a cheapskate), you pay for the location, atmosphere and service for sure. Split a meal and it gets easier on the wallet * I WANT TO GO BACK ALL THE TIME

Alpine Steakhouse SarasotaFLturducken while certainly unique is greatly overrated, the service was mediocre and the prices are high for this type of place. It is located in a busy shopping center in Sarasota so unless you like riding in traffic the ride to get there can be trying. Florida is known as a "flat land" kind of place anyhow and Sarasota though it has some unique places to visit is not located in an area where there are roads that are other than straight and flat so the advice is if you just have to try the "Turducken" then by all means do but be prepared for a ride that is less than inspiring and I am willing to bet it will be your only visit.212223(941) 922-3797www.alpinesteak.com4520 S. The BeachHouse Restaurant Bradenton BeachFLHad a terrific ride today doing back roads east of Tampa Bay down to Bradenton Beach and then running up through St. Pete and back to Tampa. Low 70's, overcast (no glare) light traffic,...great, great ride, about 150 miles total. Had one of the best lunches ever at The Beach House on Bradenton Beach...and learned a wonderful secret. I ordered the Mahi, 'cause I love Mahi, and the waiter advised that if it's the flavor of the fish I wanted rather than the sauce or crust treatments with the fish, to order it grilled. Most tourists order their fish blackened, encrusted in pepper. If you order it grilled, there are small amounts of the pepper and spice on the grill left behind from the tourist's blackened fish, that REALLY enhance the flavor of your fish without overwhelming it in spices. Absolutely, totally, one of the BEST knock your socks off fish entrees I've ever had.4(941) 779-2222www.beachhouse‑restaurant.com34217ST-Owners.com

Great "Southern" style family food usually with atleast 3 different meat dishes and some of the largest, most delicious Lima beans I've ever had. [Big Jim Davis, Floral City, Fl adds:] The food here is to die for! I have visited here several times and stayed in the accommodations here, the rooms are clean, spacious and reasonably priced, they also have some cabins and if you have a group there is a house that will sleep 10 people for very reasonable prices. The country home style food is served family style and they just keep bringing more of anything you want including fabulous deserts. This is not a place for dieters but if you are in the mood for a big family meal there is none better! Being in NE Ga the roads and the scenery surrounding Dillard is great, a group of us spent a week here in the lodgings and rode a different direction each day, it was a great week and I would go back again cause we did not in any way see all the scenery.

Fridays are seafood day with fried catfish, flounder, coconut shrimp, and of course fried chicken. Also the fixin's that go on the side are out of this world. Green Beans, Cream Corn, Collard Greens, Mustard Greens, Spinach, Black Eyed Peas, Lima Beans, Fried Okra, Squash Casserole, Corn Bread, Yeast Roles, and Cobbler or Chocolate Cake. I may have missed a few things but you get the point. If you are watchin your weight or cholesterol then maybe this isn't for you but for me it's a once a month Splurge from the everyday diet.... Fresh Air Barbecue JacksonGAThis is an "Authentic" BBQ place, in business since 1929. family owned. Just south of downtown Jackson on GA highway 42. some would say that the BBQ is similar to North Carolina style, the sauce they make is Vinegar based. They serve chipped BBQ pork only. No hotdogs, burgers, Chicken, fries, ETC. they DO serve Stew and Slaw and pickles. you get good ole white bread to go with the plates. only drawbacks are: Gravel parking lot, and they serve that semi-awful fountain drink style Tea. Most BBQ places serve great iced Tea, but I can overlook these two items. VERY motorcycle friendly establishment, Bikers have been welcome here for years. go on Sunday and you will rub elbows with most all aspects of society: Poor, Rich, Black, White, Buisnessmen, Farmers, ETC.5BBQ35443770.775.3182 freshairbarbecue.com1164 Highway 42 South30216Potlikker, Covington, GA

There is a gift shop on the corner and his place is in the front of their shop.4(706) 864-236616 Public Square SouthST-Owners.com

Harold's BBQ AtlantaGAI have been eating at Harold's since 1965 when I was a rooke police officer in DeKalb County. The meat is carefully sliced off the butts in front of you and the bread for your sandwich is toasted on an iron grate over a bed of very hot coals. Be sure to try Harold's cracklin' corn bread. It is to die for! Harold's is located at 171 McDonough Blvd, SE in Atlanta, right around the corner from the Federal Penitentary. 5BBQ15534404-627-9268171 McDonough Blvd, SE30315Frank Huggins

WARNING you will get a weeks limit on greasy food but oh is it so worth it. I try to hit it at least 4 times a year. City Limits Family Restaurant MaquoketaIAWe were greeted outside by a large chef. He had on the right 'chef' pants, a bushy mustache, a gold tooth and a foreign accent. This guy was as warm and hospitable as they come. He indicated that he had been a chef in Chicago for some years previously. We discovered later that his family inside the restaurant was equally fun. They were all attentive to us, and provided great service. They asked about our ride and about the STs. They simply enjoyed having us as guests. The building and the interior are neat, but not impressive. It's low key, but comfortable. The food, though, was outstanding. We paid less than $10 for each of our entrees. Daggy and I ordered BBQ ribs, while Rich ordered a chicken meal. The portions were huge. No understatement. Not to mention the ribs were so well done, that I could've pulled 'em off the bone through a straw. The sauce was subtle - not tangy or spicy, but just right. The chef/owner informed us that they set up a Saturday night buffet, and that he could house lots of people for an RTE.... Please stop by this place if you're starving. It was a great, but simple, dining adventure. Once you're full, head north towards Minnesota on SR52. You won't be disappointed with the ride... or the food.4(563) 652-9709ST-Owners.com

This is great day trip ride from any where with in a 75-100 mile or so radius. Hardin is in Calhoun county with beautiful scenic roads along the Illinois River bluffs. Most everyone I met that lives down there is real friendly and I am sure they would be happy to show you the way should you become lost. I have seen cutoffs t's & flipflops, 3 piece suits, as well as full leather dressed enter the store. Go to the back, place your order and wander around inside while you wait for your food. Every time I have been there it was Standing Room Only inside. While the Moon Burgers are second to none, I am a pork fan and end up with a Pork Burger. Cozy Inn SalinaKSThis story is literally moldy. I started working at Cozy Inn when I was 14. I had a Journal paper route and carried Bob Kinkels paper. He put me to work peeling and grinding onions and slicking pickles before I went to school. Got paid 45¢ an hour. Be there at 6 am. Took couple of hours and always a handful of bubble gum. Mr. Kinkel got me a permit from the City to walk in a place that sold beer after I was 16. I joined the Marines in 1943. Was sent overseas just before Christmas and I received a Christmas package while on Guadalcanal in February 1944. It had a very unique smell. It was a Cozy hamburgers with onions, pickles, catsup, mustard, some bubble gum and covered in mold. I kept it in my tent for a week or so just to look at and admire. Soon my Sergeant made me bury it out in the jungle. With the help of some Marine buddies we gave it a proper burial. Was like loosing a good friend and a little bit of Salina. That being said, it's a damn good slider, and one of the originals. Order a half dozen for a good snack. Rivershack Tavern JeffersonLAthey have the usual array of poboys, bar food and seafood. and it's all pretty tasty. the real treat is the mon-fri lunch specials. mondays are red beans and rice. it's my favorite place for red beans and rice. tue-fri there is not a set special. it depends on what the chef want to make. but it's all good. never had a special that i didnt like. so drop in, have a brew and check out the lunch special. if your on the bike the area around the shack is course gravel. in the pic you can see a small area of concrete on the right. if it's open thats where i park the bike. to the right of that, not pictured, there are bushes and houses. so if youre coming from the east it's easy to pass the shack or come up on it with out really seeing it until the last sec. the dixie beer sign is the only sign out front. and the intersection right next to the shack, on the left of photo, usu has some gravel from the lot. so be safe. [Another reviewer adds:] Had lunch there one day as it is near my daughter's house, stay away from the Cream of Crab soup unless you really like Old Bay. It also was very thick, Had the steamed crabs and they were very good. Since it was summer I opted to eat outside on the covered deck, this is a small and cozy place situated on Stoney Creek.

Not sure if the atmosphere here lends itself to a big gathering of bikers, lots of families and kids - but a few sport tourers would blend right in. For those with female pillion passengers that like shopping, the diner has a gift shop next door in case you'd like to have an authentic Maine Diner T-shirt or lighthouse mug. Hop's Hideaway MorrisonMONot on the way to anywhere unless you're a local. Known for their steak and their fried bread. A detailed review at www.berger-mo.com/node/92. Great roads all around... but most fun way is to cross the Gasconade river using the Fredericksburg Ferry, and head south from there. There are about 200 yards of semi-steep gravel between the ferry and the blacktop on the west bank, no real problem but might freak some out if surprised.4Bar & Grill44343573.294.7260www.welcometoosagecounty.info/ADS/hopssb.html1106 Pershing Road65061Your Host

Lambert's Cafe: Home of Throwed Rolls OzarkMOJust off Highway 65 south of Springfield, MO on the way to Branson. There are only 3 Lamberts in the country and they are all amazing. [Note: The other two are in Sikeston MO and Foley AL] The Food Channel ranked Lambert's the #1 place to pig out in the United States. Most meals are from $9-$14. I especially like the Chicken Fried Steak. There are attendants who are continually bringing around free side orders like: fried potatoes with onion; fried zuccini; blackeyed peas;etc. The place is famous for the hot "throwed rolls" that the waiters bring out about every 5 minutes. If you want one, just wave and the waiter will throw it to you from across the room. It's a hoot. Oh, and did I mention that every order is all you can eat. If you want 5 pork chops, they will bring you 5 and ask if you want another when you are done. I usually fast and hit the gym the day before I go, just to get ready. I go about 2-3 times a year. The up side is great riding in the Ozarks. The down side is, you usually have to wait up to an hour to get into the place.4(417) 581-7655www.throwedrolls.com1800 W. State Hwy J65721ST-Owners.com

Pappy's Smoke House St. LouisMOThis is BBQ the quality that competition judges get. Best I've ever had. Ribs, Pulled Pork and Brisket are fantastic. And the frito chili pie is strangely addictive. The deep-fried corn on the cob has a religious following, but I'd call it an acquired taste. Dining area very basic but clean and comfortable. Sadly, no beer. I rated the service in the context of this type of restaurant - you order at a counter, give your name and they bring it to you at your table. Once you order it is FAST. The wait in line is often quite long for lunch on a business day, but usually an employee will ease the pain by walking up and down the line offering you a free sample rib. If coming in the evening, call first ... they close when they run out of food, which sometimes happens in the early evening. They never ever save meat overnight and reheat... it's all cooked that day - one of the big secrets to great 'Q and a VERY rare practice at restaurants.
While you're there why not visit the Moto Museum (http://themotomuseum.com) a few blocks away at 3441 Olive Blvd? It's free and way cool.

B's Barbeque GreenvilleNCB's BBQ in Greenville is the best BBQ you will ever eat. When I'm in Eastern, NC I'll ride 75 miles out of my way to eat there. The resaurant is not big on ambience, nothing fancy, don't expect too many amenities, From the outside the place looks like a dump but it's clean. But don't let the looks stop you from enjoying the best Eastern NC BBQ money can buy! It's located behind Pitt Memorial Hospital at the end of Bs BBQ Road. You can't miss it because you'll see cars paked beside the road and peple walking up to the restaurant before you get there. The pigs are cooked outside in a REAL BBQ pit so you'll smell it long before you get there. Expect to stand in line, the service is prompt there's just that many people show up at lunchtime. The workers are friendly but very busy. They have a combo platter BBQ and Chicken for around $7.00, unless you're hungry or have a HUGE appetite you will not finish it. I recommend buying either the BBQ or Chicken Platter. If I'm with my wife I uy the combo platter and share, I eat the pig, she eats the chicken, both delicious and melt in your mouth. The meal is served with for want of a better name I'll call them fried cornbread sticks which are very delicous. The food is prepared fresh, nothing is made in advance and frozen or refrigerated, it comes off the pit straight to your plate. The only drawback on this is that when the pigs and chickens are gone for the day, there's no more. On Saturdays B's BBQ is only open when the ECU Pirates have a home game, you have to get their early because it goes quick for the tailgaters. If the Pirates aren't playing, they're closed on Saturdays. You may find fancier BBQ restaurants, but I'll wger you'll find none better.5BBQ35553751 B's Barbeque Rd27834

[Another reviewer adds:] The shining example of Southern pork, hickory smoked pork bbq. The location is ok, tricky driveway for some riders. The smoke will entice you from the highway. The service is fast, the waitresses and owners are friendly, the pork is fabulous regardless how you like it. The will slice, cube or chop it. You can get it with or without "bark." The coleslaw is wonderful! The hushpuppies are great. I am drooling just writing about it!!! Unfortunately, like many of the current bbq places, the prices are kinda high for "peasant food." It seems like bbq places have to charge upscale prices now, for some reason. :-( Kendal Johnson's chopper shop is not too far away and makes for a good ride stop.
[RDY2GO! adds:] I'm a long time Lexington resident and have eaten at every BBQ place in town many times. We call this place the "Honey Monk" and to be honest I don't know the origin of the nick name. When compared to the other local joints it's not bad and rates in my top three. (Reviews of nearby Speedy's or "Whitley's", rated even higher by this reviewer, trimmed)

Remember they close in the early afternoon, so get there early and be prepared to stand in line on the sidewalk waiting to get a table.

Speedy's Barbecue LexingtonNCSpeedy's remains my all-time favorite in Lexington, NC. This is what I compare all other BBQ joints to when travelling. It is smoked pig, with red slaw and dip, hush puppies and .... Well, it is just time to go back.
[RDY2GO! Adds:] On my local top three list. The BBQ and sauce here has a better flavor to me than Lexington BBQ but Speedy's is a little harder to find. Better still is nearby "Whitley's" BBQ

Joshua's Grille LancasterNHMy wife and I were on holiday in the NE last week (2-10 October, 2009), and travelled Route 2 from Burlington Vermont to Bangor Maine. We were leaf-peeping. Just after crossing the VT/NH state line eastbound, we saw Joshua's Grill on the right. As it was 2pm, and we were hungry, we thought we'd give it a go. The parking lot was quite full, and as Lancaster isn't exactly tourist-central, we assumed that the vehicles belonged to locals, always a good sign. After getting inside, we were greeted and seated. The decor was very cozy and homey, complete with a roaring fire in the very large stone fireplace. We were seated at a very nicely prepped table, complete with cloth table-cover, and cloth napkins. Very nice silverware and glassware. Sounds weird, but impressive if you think about where you might usually dine. Or at least the places I usually dine .... The dining room was sub-divided into five smaller seating areas, offering a very intimate meal experience. The sound-level was as could be expected in a full establishment, but not "sports-bar" loud. Very comfortable. My wife and I both had the Lobster Bisque (they were out of the NE Clam Chowder ), but that's OK; the bisque was phenomenal. Very large pieces of Maine lobster swimming in some of the best soup/broth I've had in a very long time. I ordered the fish & chips, my wife had pork tenderloin. Friends, if either of these dishes were/are representative of the balance of the menu, then I humbly suggest trying more of anything that catches your eye. The menu offered seafood, chicken, pork, and beef, light lunch fare (sandwiches), to full-blown dinner entree's. Both of our meals were absolutely incredible. As we were there just a half-hour before closing, I was not able to speak with the chef. He'd left after our meals were completed. He was off on break before they re-opened for dinner. I'm born & raised in MA, but keep forgetting the most of the country has a different schedule that 24-hours-a-day,-7-days-a-week-Florida. So please check the website listed above, and call before you plan on going to be sure that they'll be open .....I'll leave you with this: Joshua's Grill is truly a gem hidden in the beautiful New Hampshire surroundings. If you are in that area, please take the time to enjoy a fantastic meal. You'll be glad you did .... 4(603) 788-393939 Portland StreetST-Owners.com

We've been there quite a few times. Usually the wait time is acceptable, but not great. One time we waited over an hour before someone came to take our order. We were getting up to leave when they finally came over to serve us. Management apologized and made sure we were served promptly, but it left a bad impression on us and we haven't been back since.
